Frequently Asked Questions By Parents

Is your agency licensed and insured?

Yes! Nannies on the Hudson is fully licensed by the Department of Consumer Affairs (License number TP006561), and we are both bonded and insured for your peace of mind.

Who is the employer—the agency or the family?

The family is the official employer of the nanny. This means you are responsible for managing payroll, including paying employment taxes. We can recommend trusted payroll services to make the process simple and compliant.

How much does a nanny typically earn through your agency?

Compensation for our professional nannies ranges from $25 to $40 per hour, depending on experience, responsibilities, and schedule. Rates are discussed transparently during the placement process.

What kind of benefits do nannies typically receive?

Because the family is the employer, benefits are negotiated directly—but we encourage offering:
• Paid time off (vacation, sick days, holidays)
• Health insurance contributions (if full-time)
• Transportation stipend or MetroCard (if applicable)
• Guaranteed hours
We help guide both families and nannies in setting fair, competitive terms.

How do you screen your nannies?

Our nannies undergo a comprehensive vetting process including:
• In-depth interviews
• Professional reference checks
• Background checks (criminal, sex offender registry, and driving record when relevant)
• Verification of CPR/First Aid certification
• Personality and fit assessment for your family’s unique needs
